The second review of the H2020 ReconCycle project was held on November 24 and 25, 2022.
ReconCycle project is about the self-reconfiguration of a robotic workcell for the recycling of electronic waste; qbrobotics, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Tecnology, is involved in the development of new Soft End Effectors for electronic waste recycling. In this second project review, the new capabilities of the qb SoftHand2 Research and qb SoftClaw were demonstrated in a live demo showing qbrobotics products at work for automatic disassembly of an electronic device.
In particular, the live demo highlighted the following benefits achieved:
- Increased performance in handling components of a wide variety of shapes and sizes;
- Greater reliability in safe manipulation of critical components (e.g. batteries, etc..);
- Reduced disassembly cycle time.
After this performance evaluation by simulating project use cases in qbrobotics laboratories, the Soft End Effectors are ready for the next integration into the work cell at the headquarters of JSI, the scientific research institute Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia, together with contributions from all project partners.
