Rome, March 19, 2025 – The Chamber of Commerce of Rome presents ADRIANO, the first robotic employee of the Italian Public Administration, who will welcome citizens and tourists at the Temple of Vibia Sabina and Adriano, the historic headquarters of the institution, starting from March 24.

ADRIANO, equipped with artificial intelligence and advanced robotic hands, will provide information in both Italian and English about the history of Rome and the headquarters. Thanks to sensors for Computer Vision and artificial muscles, it will interact safely with the environment and people, including physical contact, such as shaking hands with visitors. It will also be able to
express emotions through realistic facial expressions, making the interaction more natural. One of its main innovations will be the ability to remotely visit the Temple, offering an immersive experience to those who cannot be physically present.

The project, the result of collaboration between IIT (Italian Institute of Technology), Sapienza University of Rome, Babelscape, and qbrobotics -which also coordinated the work of the partners -, is the outcome of 18 months of development that transformed a teleoperated avatar into an autonomous robot.

Lorenzo Tagliavanti, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, stated: “ADRIANO is an example of how robotics and AI can improve the quality of life by blending history and innovation”
